There is no doubt that having a child is the most profound transition a woman can make. Becoming a Mum and being responsible for another life leads to the most rewarding, challenging, joyful, frustrating and incredible job there is: all that and no pay!
Meanwhile, your career has likely gone through a transition of its own. If you returned to your career after a few months of maternity leave, you now have different, sometimes conflicting, priorities. Or you may have chosen to leave your career to focus on raising your child(ren) and work is a distant memory. Whatever your situation, if you’re reading this, you’re ready to explore your options for a Career After Kids.
This course is for you if:
- You have returned to work but you know the job is no longer right for you. The part-time hours suit and the money is nice, but you’re bored, or worse, stressed about juggling your childcare and work responsibilities.
- You feel called to do something more meaningful and personally fulfilling but have no idea what that could be.
- Or you have so many career ideas that you struggle to decide which one is truly right for you.
- Your child(ren) are getting older and more independent: now it’s time for you to branch out and re-build your career.
The Career After Kids course comprises four workshops that feature a selection of powerful and inspirational exercises from my 1:1 career coaching programme.
Here’s what we’ll cover in the Career After Kids course:
Week 1 – Clarity
Designed to strip away the labels and responsibilities that come with them, we get back to the real you. Re-discover your unique identity and remember what is truly important to you.
Week 2 – Confidence
We discover your knowledge, achievements, skills and motivations: a combination of gifts entirely unique to you. Together, we unwrap your box of gifts, celebrate what’s inside and give you confidence in all that you have to offer the world.
Week 3 – Choice
This week, we explore the possibilities without constraint, playing with ideas and generating options. We narrow them down through a series of clever exercises and you make choices to pinpoint the right career for you.
Week 4 – Courage
In this final week of the course, we take the time to celebrate how far you have come. In a supportive circle of sisterhood, you affirm what you want for your working life and make a commitment to follow your career dream. But that’s not the end, we then create a practical action plan, outlining the steps to make your vision a reality.
Each workshop is three hours and takes place once a week at my home office in Bournemouth. The workshops provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to discover, explore and dream and there will be a maximum of six course participants to ensure personal attention from me. As well as working through the exercises individually or in pairs, there will be time to get to know your course colleagues over a cuppa. After each workshop there will be homework designed to deepen your learning and written exercises to prepare for the next workshop. If this is for you, come and join a friendly group of like-minded women and explore what a career after kids means to you in a warm and supportive atmosphere.
